Art, architecture, design, business, and the legacy of an unusual three-story building all converge in Cinema Supply, the breathtaking work-collaborate-create-show-and-gather space in the heart of Chelsea. The reinvention of 217 West 21st Street takes its name from the Star Cinema Supply Company, the long-time occupant and family business that supported cinemas worldwide for decades. The newly renovated 18,000 square foot building sports a soothingly modern restatement of its space and offers those in business and the arts who value aesthetic excellence a perfect oasis to work, retreat, gather, or simply get away.

Star Cinema Supply navigated New York City’s turbulent 1970s and 80s, reinventing its business as the film industry rapidly evolved. The story is fascinating and equally inspiring is the distinctive warehouse building itself — modern for its 1922 origin - and by its location. The famed Chelsea Hotel had helped make the neighborhood a magnet for artists and writers. As a result, in the 1990s, Star Cinema Supply opened unused space to local artists attracted to its abundant natural light and quiet charm — and to its historic film world connection.

Today, after a meticulous restoration that honors the original old-world construction, the property offers a unique experience through Cinema Supply that operates synergistically as a contemporary art gallery, art studio, office, meeting and gathering space of exceptional quality.
